Avian flu is caused by flu viruses that occur naturally among wild birds. The H5N1 type of avian flu is deadly to domestic fowl, such as chickens, and can be transmitted from birds to humans. There is no human immunity to the avian flu, and no vaccine is available, but there is medicine available for treating it.
