Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) Update
March 28, 2023
On November 27, 2023, the final phase of the Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) will go into effect, requiring the pharmaceutical industry to implement an "enhanced system" for the interoperable, electronic tracing of drugs. This system must enable product tracing at the package level using unique product identifiers (serial numbers).
To meet these requirements, FFF has partnered with SAP to implement its Advanced Track and Trace for Pharmaceuticals (ATTP) solution to provide you with access to its serialized transaction records.
We are currently in the final stages of configuration and testing, with plans for a gradual rollout of ATTP across our distribution network over 10-12 weeks beginning in April. We will provide periodic updates, including instructions on registering and gaining access to the ATTP portal. Please keep an eye out for these communications.
For FFF to effectively identify each customer entity as a unique trading partner, it will be necessary for you to provide your Global Location Number (GLN). This is a requirement to complete the setup and ensure that your serialized transaction records are routed correctly and accessible to you. If you do not already have your GLN(s), you can register for them through the GS1 US® website at GS1 US® Meeting the Needs of Healthcare. We suggest you obtain your GLN as soon as possible to prepare your access to the ATTP portal. For more information about the DSCSA requirements and policies, visit: FDA | Drug Supply Chain Security Act Webinars and Presentations.
Lastly, we want you to be aware that these changes will not affect your current T3 lot-level data, now accessible through TraceLink.
